Senate sweeps is a 6 week competition that pits Senators against each other in a test of social media prowess. We’ve seeded and arranged the 64 most active Senators by region – but only the best of the best will get to the final rounds.
We want to encourage Senators to use different platforms, so every round will measure a different aspect of a successful social media strategy. Starting Wednesday, September 25th we will begin tracking our 64 Senators in various social media metrics. For the next 6 weeks, we will put out a new bracket, new content, and new analysis on the week’s result. The order is:
Social media has grown into an integral part of American political life. Everything from scandals to policy initiatives are being publically shared, debated, and analyzed through social media platforms. Politicians like Corey Booker and Rand Paul have made national careers out of their social media access, and constituents have gotten more access to their representatives in return. Senate Sweeps is a way to benchmark and compare how engaged Senators are on Social Media, encourage them to ramp up their efforts, and show Americans which Senators make outreach a priority.
